Abstract

Background : Mental retardation is not sufficient mental capacity to the characteristics of patients have high levels of below-average intelligence (IQ below 75). The role of parents is necessary for oral health care for children with mental retardation in the rate of first gear and nutrition knowledge to apply and teach mentally retarded children to be more concerned about the health of your teeth and mouth Aim : This study aimed to correlation between dental health and nutrition knowledge of mothers on the level of dental caries in children with mental retardation SLB Dharma Putra Rena Ring II Yogyakarta. Method : This research is a quantitative study with cross sectional study. The samples in this study were elderly and mentally retarded children in special schools Rena Ring Dharma Putra II Yogyakarta number of 46 respondents. The sampling technique used is total sampling. Tools and materials used in this study is a questionnaire about the level of knowledge of dental health and nutrition of pregnant and diagnostic tools to check the severity of the mentally retarded child caries (DMF-T Result : The results of Chi-Square test analysis and regression significancy value of 0.000 (P <0.05), which means there is a correlation between dental health and nutrition knowledge of mothers tehadap caries severity of mental retardation in children Rena Ring SLB Dharma Putra II Yogyakarta. Conclusion : Conclusion of study correlation between maternal nutrition knowledge and teeth against caries severity in mentally retarded children SLB Dharma Rena Ring Putra II Yogyakarta.
