Abstract

This research aims at describing Tafsir al-Azhār towards surah al-Mā’ūn and figuring
out the meaning social care contained in surah al- Mā’ūn in Tafsir Al-Azhār. The type
of the research employed in this undergraduate thesis is library research, i.e. a
research whose primary object is library materials including primary and secondary
data resources. Meanwhile, the primary data resource used was Tafsir al-Azhār book
written by Buya Hamka, and it was supported by secondary data from books writings
relevant with the research. The research result was that the original meaning of surah
al-Mā’ūn was anything beneficial. Al-Qurthubi wrote that the meaning of al-Mā’ūn
has twelve opinions from some ulema (Islamic cleric). Surah al-Mā’ūn commands us
to have care feeling for other people. In education world, “The cultivation of social
care education is one of the goals of Islam religion education” that is important to
realize as the learning for students so that they can have high social care feeling to
form their behavior.
