Abstract

Background. Decision to perform orthodontic treatment of patient based on the existence of motivation is influenced by patient's expectation. It is the orthodontic treatments including improvement of oral health, satisfaction of treatment outcomes, and avoidance of pain during treatment. Research methods. This design of the research is an observational analytic study with cross-sectional. A number of respondents 73 patients into treatment with removable orthodontic appliance using the questionnaire as research instruments. Conclusion. There is different motivation and expectation of the patient to the removable orthodontic appliance treatment between men and women in RSGMP UMY. Result. Based on Mann-Whitney, it can be concluded that the mean range of motivation of female is higher (49,35) than male (23,65), and the mean range of hope of female is higher (46,68) than male (26,32). There is difference of the mean range of motivation and hope of male and female in use of removable orthodontic.
