Abstract

Research entitled “Evaluasi Kesesuaian Lahan Untuk Budidaya Tanaman
Kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) di Kecamatan Kepenuhan Hulu, Kabupaten Rokan
Hulu” aims to determine the characteristics of the land and evaluate the actual
and potential land suitability classes for cocoa cultivation in the Kepenuhan Hulu.
This research was conducted using a survey method to obtain primary data and
secondary data. Primary data is data on land characteristics in Kepenuhan Hulu,
while secondary data is supporting data obtained from the local service.
All data was be analysed based on the concept of land evaluation by the
process of matching land characteristics as parameters with the term of the land
base on land units to determine the land suitability class. The results of the data
analysis showed that the land in Kepenuhan Hulu, Rokan Hulu Regency included
in the S3 class (according to marginal) with limiting factors in the form of
moisture, texture, soil depth, available N-total and K, base saturation and organic
C. All of these limiting factors can be carried out with an optimal management
effort, so that being able to make land suitability classes in Kepenuhan Hulu from
S3 (According to marginal) which is suitable for planting cocoa
