Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus type 2 is considered one of the main public health problems.
Diabetes Mellitus type 2 is a condition in which sugar levels in the blood exceed normal
values. adherence in the use of the drug can be referred to as the extent of the patient's
behavior in accordance with the instructions given by health workers. Lack of
adherence to drug use and selection of drug therapies can lead to poor therapeutic
outcomes and poor control of blood sugar in the body. The purpose of this study is to
know the patient's compliance and relationship to therapeutic outcomes and to know
the treatment patterns received in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
The method used in this study is the literature review method. The research was
conducted using two databases: google scholar and PubMed. The time period of the
article searched is 2015 – 2020. Articles that meet inclusion criteria are then extracted.
Specific keywords and Boolean strategic were used to find the required articles for
current literature review.
A total of 10 selected articles were used in this paper. As many as 62.5% of
selected articles repoted that high adherence was associated with better therapeutic
outcomes. The most widely received treatment of patients is the use of two combination
drugs (44%). The most combination is a combination of metformin and glimepiride.
High adherence to drug use will affect the results of a better blood sugar level.
