HUBUNGAN BODY MASS INDEX DENGAN SIKLUS MENSTRUASI PADA MAHASISWI FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN DAN ILMU KESEHATAN UMY

The Menstrual cycle is used as a sign of womens's health. The effect of hormonal system and body composition towards menstrual cycle is conducted by HPA (Hyphothalarnus-Pituitary-Axis) of adrenal gland. The relation between Body Mass Index and abnormalities in reproduction functions should be observed. The objective of this research isTo observed the correlation between Body Mass Index and menstrual cycle. The subject of this research were 77 students who has the same educational background (medical students). Each student measured the height and weight and noted the last 2 period of menstrual cycle by using calender noting system. The result is corelated by Spearman. More than a half of the student's menstrual cycle is regular. 51 (66 %) of the students has regular menstrual cycle. Spearman Analysis shows r = -0,153 with P value is 0,183. It means that there's no significant correlation between Body Mass Index and menstrual cycle.
