Abstract
Background: Pregnant women are a group at risk of being infected with COVID-19. The readiness of pregnant women to give birth is an important indicator for the safety of the mother and fetus. Readiness for childbirth is that pregnant women prepare themselves both physically and mentally so that the delivery process, namely removing the baby, placenta, and membranes can run smoothly. Purpose: This study aims to explore the experience of the readiness of pregnant women in facing childbirth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This study was using qualitative method with phenomenological approach. There were 11 informants in this study. The data collection method used semistructured interviews that have been validation by expert people in maternal. Results: The research findings reveal there are four main themes pregnant women readiness towards delivery during a pandemic COVID-19: 1) worried about being exposed to COVID-19, 2) maintain good health during a pandemic COVID-19, 3) following the ancestral culture, 4) prepare for childbirth safe and comfortable, and 5) optimal health facility services. Conclusion: It is important for pregnant women to maintain health and must plan delivery carefully. Health facilities play an important role in helping pregnant women prepare for childbirth, especially during the pandemic. The program telehealth can be an alternative option that can be used to reach pregnant women during the COVID-19 pandemic.
