Abstract

This research aims to reveal the Islamic spiritual guidance in pneumonia patients, figure out the forms and types of the Islamic spiritual guidance materials given to pneumonia patients, find out the adaptive spiritual responses of pneumonia patients after acquiring the Islamic spiritual guidance materials, as well as describe the supporting and inhibiting factors of the Islamic spiritual guidance development services for pneumonia patients. This research uses a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were 6 officers of Islamic spiritual development, 2 patients with pneumonia and 1 family member of pneumonia patient. The result of this study indicates that the spiritual responses of pneumonia patients have changed when they have been given spiritual guidance by the Islamic spiritual development officers. The Islamic spiritual development at RS PKU Muhammadiyah Camping has managed to carry out its duties according to the rules and procedures that have been set at the hospital. The form of guidance carried out by the Islamic spiritual development officers is by direct face-to-face meetings, writings and audio-type materials including spiritual strengthening, patience and sincerity, dzikir (remembrance) therapy, agidah (creed), akhlak (morals) and muamalah (Islamic jurisprudence). The supporting factors are the existence of Holistic Health Care (HHC) services, the intensity of scheduled Islamic spiritual development services, acceptance of pneumonia patients for Islamic spiritual development benefits, employee development activities and communication between Islamic spiritual development and pneumonia patients. The inhibiting factors include errors in the results of the initial assessment, the condition of the pneumonia patients, the family of the pneumonia patients, and the medical calmness situation on a visit.
