Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease that occurs due to a malfunction in carbohydrate and fat metabolism that causes high blood glucose levels with symptoms such as polyuria. pol3dipsia, polnthagia. drastic weight loss, prolonged wound closure, blurred vision. glucosuria. In its treatment. Diabetes mellitus is a disease that is easy to do. Examples such as regular exercise. restriction of sugar consumption. consumption of drinking drugs and insulin injections. If this is done consistently then blood sugar can be controlled. To improve the ability in handling diabetes mellitus. it is necessary to provide education about diabetes mellitus. One of the efforts made to improve health status is through health promotion. The purpose of health promotion is so that the community can be independent in improving the quality of health. preventing the occurrence of health problems and increasing the ability of health based on community resources. Methods: This study used a qualitative descriptive method. The author uses 6 research respondents who were selected by purposive sampling based on the criteria that meet. The data collection process was carried out at the Kasihan I Health Center for 6 months from March to August 2021. In this study. researchers took data by in-depth interviews. Results: In this study with 6 samples consisting of 3 patients and 3 companions, it was found that the patients felt significant benefits from health promotion provided by health workers. Meanwhile. the patient companion was less satisfied with the health promotion provided. Conclusion: Health Promotion has a high impact in increasing knowledge of diabetes mellitus management in DM patients but has less impact on patient companions
