Abstract
Deviant behavior in children is common to happen in the educational environment. This is due to a lack of good self-regulation skills. This study aims to determine: (1) Level of social anxiety, (2) Level of social support, (3) Effect of social anxiety to self-regulation improvement efforts, (4) Effect of social support to selfregulation improvement efforts, (5) Effect of social anxiety and social support for self-regulation improvement efforts on students. This type of research is quantitative research. The population in this study were 11th and 12th -grade students of SMA (Senior High School) Muhammadiyah 5 Yogyakarta. The sampling method used is the probability sampling technique with simple random sampling with a total sample of 62 people. The data analysis technique used is Descriptive Statistical Analysis, Prerequisite Analysis Test, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, and F Test. The results of this study are (1) Social anxiety has a negative and significant effect on self-regulation improvement efforts with a regression value of -0.275 and a significance level of 0.001, meaning that the higher the subject’s level of social anxiety, the lower self-regulation skills is. (2) Social support has a positive and significant effect on self-regulation improvement efforts with a regression value of 0.307 with a significance level of 0.000, meaning that the higher the subject’s social support, the higher the self-regulation skills are. (3) Social anxiety and social support simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on self-regulation improvement efforts with a significance level of 0.000, and the amount of Adjusted R2 is 0.490, meaning that social anxiety and social support have a positive influence of 49% on self-regulation, while the remaining 51% is influenced by other factors not discussed in this study.
