Abstract

Gender inequality in India has been a crucial issue that is often neglected throughout the country. Many gender inequalities come with religious and cultural reasons. Gender inequality comes from every aspect such as inequality in job opportunity, domestic violence, gender-based violence, inequality in education, etc. The inequality that is faced by women in India are mostly inequalities that are faced by women throughout other third world countries, this research would like to discuss the relevance of western feminism to the inequality that is faced by women in India, western feminism as the dominant and leading feminist idea have contributed their ideas and actions to countries all over the world. This research would be aimed to discuss how does western feminism through a western-based IO specifying on UN Women and their influence on the gender equality movement through three feminist NGOs in India namely, SEWA Bharat, Jagori, and Lawyers Collective. The method of the research will be library research, where this research will collect data from reports, programs, surveys, journals, and articles that discuss the collaboration between UN Women and the three NGOs and will discuss the influence and contribution UN Women has given to the three NGOs.
