Abstract

ABSTRACT

Many Roads in Indonesia have suffered damage especially on roads in flexible
pavement. This is due to the volume of traffic that does not correspond to volume
plans, extreme climate changes, the subgrade quality is not good and the quality

of pavement material that do not meet standards of reference.

In this research conducted an analysis of the highway (case study : Karangmojo-
Semin road Sta. (0 + 000) to Sta. (4 + 050), Gunung Kidul in D.I Yogvakarta)
with the program KENPAVE, which can figure out the value of stress and strain

that happens on the road due to traffic load.

Initial analysis for thickness data pavement analyzed by the method of Bina
Marga 1987, AASHTO 1993, data material pavement and data load vehicle
heaviest used as an input parameter to KENPAVE. Output of running KENPAVE
is used to find out the response of stress and strain that occurs due to traffic load
as a basis for analysis to find the value of repetition load that occurs in the area
of review. Response of stress and strain causes fatigue cracking of 0,000408 and
rutting of 0,00138 with pavement thickness analysis with the method of Bina
Marga 1987 and the cause of the fatigue cracking of 0,000322 and rutting of
0,00134 with pavement thickness analysis with the method AASHTO 1993. The
thickness flexible pavement planned with two these methods produce the amount
of load repetition with a traffic load plan 2,0 x 10° ESAL is greater than the
number of repetition the load plan, so the road will experience the possibilities of
fatigue cracking and rutting damage before reach plan expired if not exercised

good maintenance.
