Abstract

The world health report on 2001 shows that about 25 % the human in this universe experience a behavioral and mental disorder once in their life time. Schizophrenia is one of the mental disorder manifestation which only contribute 1 - 1.5 % in prevalence from the population and about 10 % of schizophrenic end their life by conducting a suicide. WHO stated that 1 million people trying to suicide on 2000. In Indonesia the level of suicide tend to increase each year. Raising religious understanding is one of the effort to prevent suicide incidence. The aim of this study is knowing the correlation level of religiosity and suicide desire in mental disorder patient in Kasihan II PublicHealth Care Center, Bantul Yogyakarta. Non experimental methodology used in this study with cross sectional approach. This study conducted in Kasihan II PublicHealth Care Center, Bantu! Yogyakarta with the 30 number of sample on juny july 2009. Pearson data analysis shows that with P Value = 0.000 and r -- 0.659 could be concluded there is significant correlation level of religiosity and suicide desire in mental disorder patient in Kasihan II PublicHealth Care Center, Bantul Yogyakarta. with the negative direction or we could say that the more level of religiosity, the fewer suicide desire. Researcher suggest to the nurse for developing nursing science based on religious aspect in meeting holistic human needs especially for menial disorder patient.
