Abstract

Public leaders, scholars, and media columnists have questioned the similarities between right-wing authoritarian movements in the United States and other nations and the history of fascism in Europe in the 1930s since Donald Trump's election. Antifascism has gotten significantly less attention in the media. Antifa stands for uncompromising radicalism on both the right and left. Looking at the Antifa movement's historical roots, however, exposes a far broader strand of pragmatism, compromise, and coalition building. The movement also exhibited a surprising amount of moderation and reconciliation in certain circumstances. Antifa is more of an activist movement with ideologies and tactics in common. In recent years, they have made their presence felt in protests around the country. Neo-Fascist/Nazi and racist groups in the United States have had the courage to organize open meetings and marches after Trump's election. The group's most recent march in Charlottesville resulted in confrontations and fatalities. However, on the other hand, resistance to these groups has also intensified, especially those initiated by the "Antifa" group in their street actions, the group is immediately identifiable due to the fact that they wear black masks or facial coverings. However, what is not widely known is that the Antifa group was actually born and nurtured thanks to hardcore punk music.
