Abstract

Home garden land use is an open plot of land around the house where you live. This research was conducted in Umbulharjo Distict, Yogyakarta City, which is spread over seven villages. This study is aims to identify the potential contained in Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City, Identify the types of plants found in home garden land use in Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City, and Identify the appropriate home garden land use applied in Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City. The method of of choosing a place is done purposively, namely in Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City which is determined by several considerations. There are 100 respondents spread over seven villages in Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City. The results show that the potential in Umbulharjo District consists of physical potential, economic, and social. The types of plants found in Umbulharjo District are very diverse, as many as 48 types of plants. The appropriate home garden applied in Umbulharjo District has differences, depending on the size, namely the very narrow and narrow type of home garden applying the intensification of vegetables and toga plants and the conservation of ornamental plants. in medium-type home garden, the intensification of cultivation of vegetables, toga, fruits, and food crops, conservation of ornamental plants, and integrated agriculture, and on large and very widely home garden applies the intensification of vegetables, toga, fruits, and integrated agriculture more complex. It is hoped that the results of this study can identify the pattern of home garden in Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City, as well as can be input to the community, especially in Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City in optimizing use of thehome garden.
