Abstract

This study aims to determine the history of the Aceh Darussalam Sultanate. The Aceh Sultanate is a kingdom that was founded in 1496. The Aceh Sultanate itself is an amalgamation of small kingdoms from the north to the west of Aceh. The author also discusses the history of the Sultanate of Aceh Darussalam as the first country to recognize Dutch sovereignty as an independent and sovereign country when the Netherlands was still a colony of Spain. This study also aims to open the eyes of the Acehnese that Aceh is a great nation and one of the most respected sultanates at that time. The kingdom of Aceh was even included as one of the five largest Islamic kingdoms at that time. And also shows the awareness of the Sultanate of Aceh Darussalam about the importance of diplomatic relations with other countries which makes Aceh have many strategic coalitions in maintaining its strength in the Malacca Strait
