Abstract
Ulcer is a disease caused by inflammation of the stomach that can be self-medicated. According to the 2014 SUSENAS (National Socio-Economic Survey) the Indonesian people who carry out self-medication are as much as 61.05%. Self-medication needs to be done with the right knowledge because it can affect the accuracy of drug use. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the level of self-medicated knowledge of gastric ulcers in Indonesians on the island of Java. This study used a descriptive research method with cross sectional observational research. The samples of this research used non probability sampling technique with consecutive sampling method. The total sample obtained in this study amounted to 541 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The research data were obtained using a questionnaire distributed to Indonesians in Java, namely in the provinces of Central Java, West Java, East Java, Banten, Yogyakarta Special Region, and DKI Jakarta. The questionnaire was tested for validity, namely the content validity test and the face validity test. To test the reliability using the Cronbach's Alpha method. Analysis of the data level of knowledge using descriptive analysis to see the distribution of frequencies and percentages. The results obtained in this study regarding the level of self-medicated knowledge of ulcer disease were 78.7% classified as good, 20.3% classified as sufficient and 0.9% classified as lacking. Statements on the questionnaire regarding how to store and how to dispose of drugs are the two lowest knowledge aspects of the results of the questionnaire, for how to store statement number 24 is a negative statement the results for correct answers are 63.8% and 36.4% wrong and for this method of disposal it is a negative statement. the results obtained were 43.4% correct and 56.7% wrong. It can be concluded that the majority of Indonesians in Java have a good level of self-medicated knowledge of ulcer disease
