Abstract

Election is a battle in a democratic country that is followed by political actors and political parties, if elections are like a competition, there must be winners and losers, losers and wins, it is commonplace in elections. There is no democracy that does not run elections for a public office by involving citizens who are entitled to vote. Elections are a manifestation of true democracy because full sovereignty returns to the people. This research uses qualitative research with a case study approach, which is the approach that will be used in this research. This is because the case study approach is very relevant to the topic that the researcher takes. Definitively, a case study is a type of approach to investigate and understand one, two or more cases according to the expected objectives. The results of this study indicate that there are several factors for the victory of newcomers and factors for the loss of incumbents, as for the winning actors of newcomers, namely first, his fame as the owner of the Persiraja Banda Aceh football club, second, a good campaign strategy, third, able to mobilize Islamic boarding schools and figures. religion, fourth is money politics with the capital distributing sports clothes, especially in targeted areas, fifth he has a solid success team. The factors for the loss of the incumbent are, firstly, a lack of sympathy from the community, secondly, they are not serious about mobilizing religious leaders and Islamic boarding schools.
