Abstract

Background:The main component in physical fitness is cardiorespiratory endurance, which is known from the VO2 max value. Based on WHO (2011) low physical activity in Indonesia 31.9% in men and 27.9% in women with a total of 29.9% of the total population in 2010. Low levels of physical activity increase the risk of obesity, hypokinetics, hypertension, cholesterol and other cardiovascular disease. Purpose: This research was conducted to determine the level of physical fitness in the members of Menwa of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Research Methods: this research uses a quantitative descriptive design. With a single variable that is physical fitness. The instrument used was a Multistage Fitness Test to measure cardiorespiratory by looking at the value of VO2 Max of respondents. Sampling technique uses total-sampling technique with the criteria established by the researcher, with a total of 44 respondents. Result: Descriptive statistical result percentage of the result obtained respondents aged late teens with a range of 17-25 years 100%, male sex 61.4%, smoking status 81.1% do not smoke, do physical exercise regularly 100%, with exercise majoritu once a week 45.4%. With the percentage of physical fitness category acquisition is very good,men get 37%, smoking status not smoking 25%, frequency of physical exercise three times 75% per week. As well as the acquisition of an average VO2 Max respondents rate of 45.8%. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the members of the Menwa in university of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta have a level of physical fitness in the good category.
