Abstract

Family becomes a means of improving human dignity and honor. Everything has been stipulated in Islam that there are restrictions that should not be done by people in the practice of family. The Ministry of Religious Affairs specifically strengthens marriage through marriage guidance program conducted with the aim of providing provisions in shaping the readiness of marriage. This research is aimed to: (1) how the implementation of marriage guidance program in the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Yogyakarta, (2) the readiness of the prospective bride and groom in the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Yogyakarta, (3) whether marriage guidance program affects the marriage readiness. This research used quantitative approach with survey data retrieval. The sample of the research was 63 participants of marriage guidance program of the XXII-XXV generation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Yogyakarta. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, simple regression analysis, and N-Gain Score Analysis. The results show that the implementation of marriage guidance program (X) is said to be quite effective to establish mental readiness in marriage (Y) indicated by an average N-Gain Score of 0.3086. Then the marriage readiness (Y) of the participants who have followed the marriage guidance program is said to be very ready by accumulating the average variable of Y as much as 85% of the 63 participants. It can be concluded that the marriage guidance program (X) positively affects the readiness of marriage (Y) by contributing 58.5% in shaping the readiness of the participants.
