Abstract

This study aims to i) Describe the farmer group's activities and management on utilizing urban yard in Yogyakarta City, ii) Determine the the role of group's leader in utilizing urban yard in Yogyakarta City, iii) Analyze the factors related the perception of group’s members of the group's leader in utilizing urban yard in Yogyakarta City. Sample of this study was determined by multistage random sampling and purposively located in Yogyakarta City. There were 48 members as the sample. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis to describe the farmer group's activities and management, table analysis to determine the the role of group's leader, and rank spearman correlation analysis to Analyze the factors related the perception of group’s members of the group's leader. The result of this study indicate that urban farmer group have activites such as : i) Urban yard utilization, ii) Cultivation, iii) Proccessing agricultural product, iv) Marketing, v) Agriculture exhibition, vi) Training. On management, Urban farmer group doesn’t have a comprehensive organizational structure and administrative records. Instructive, consultative, and participative roles of group's leader was categorized very good. Meanwhile liaison role of group's leader was categorized good. Overall, The role of group's leader in utilizing of urban yard was categorized good. Factors that have significant correlation to perception of group's members to the role of group's leader in utilizing of urban yard were the role of agricultural extention.
