Abstract

Indonesia is a country of diversity. It has many different kind of ethnic, ethnicity,
culture and also languages. This cultural diversity is utilized by Indonesia to bridge
the international interests through cultural diplomacy. This strategy is carried out
by Indonesia to promote, display and campaign for things that need to be known by
other nations about Indonesia. Indonesia and Saudi Arabia are two countries that
have many similarities such as moeslim’s majority population, some of the same
culture and so forth. This similarities become the major factor in the relationship
between the two. Indonesia and Saudi Arabia reach their relationship escalation that
marked by President Joko Widodo’s visit to Saudi Arabia in 2015 then continued
by King Salman’s visit to Indonesia in 2017. King Salman’s visit resulted 11
agreement that had been agreed and signed by both parties. One main aspect that
becomes the agreement is culture. The 33rd Janadriyah Cultural and Heritage
Festival as the follow up of cultural agreement and collaboration. Indonesia was
invited to be the ‘guest of honour’ in this festival and was given 2000 m² pavilion
facility. In this festival, Indonesia use it as a venue for Indonesian cultural
diplomacy
