Abstract

Background : Stroke is a neuro cerebrovascular disease caused by a sudden disruption of blood supply to the brain. The problem that is often experienced by stroke patients is weakness in the body so patients difficulty in carrying out for daily activities. This condition can cause stress in stroke patients. One of the factors that can affect stress in stroke patients is family care by carrying out family health function to prevent stress in stroke patients. Purpose : This research aim to determine the relation of family health function with stress level on stroke patients in PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Yogyakarta Hospital. Method : This research is a quantitative research with correlation research design with cross sectionel approach. The total population is 277 people and the total of sample is 42 people. Sample collecting technique by accindental sampling. This research instruments such as family heath function quetionnaire and perceived stress scale questionnaire. Statistical analyzes was used to test the hypothesis is spearman rho. Result : Family helath function of stoke showed good category result with 30 respondents (71,4%), moderate category 9 respondents (21,4%), and low category 3 respondents (7,2%).Stress levels on stroke patient showed norma stress 15 respondents (35,7%), mild stress 25 respondents (59,5%), and moderate stress 2 respondents (4,8%). The result of the Spearman statistical test obtained a significant value of p=0,000 (p<0,05). Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between family health function with stress levels on stroke patients. Suggestion : Further research needs to be studied about factors that influence the implementation of family health function for stroke patients to improve family care for stroke patients.
