Abstract

Currently, there are some students shows bad behavior towards parents and elders, and refuse to help parents. That student with good morality will not do that behavior. Then the lack of understanding of Islamic creeds (aqidah) and morality (akhlak) can lead to student bad behavior towards everyone including parents whom should be respected and treated dutifully. Aqidah Ahlak (Islamic creeds and noble characters) is a course programmed to generate qualified student in the course field in social life and education activities through student-centered learning processes. Meanwhile, dutiful behavior to parents is a practice highly regarded in Islamic teaching for it is said: "Ridha (contentment) of Allah depends on the ridha (contentment) of both parents". This study aims to determine the correlation between participation in Aqidah Akhlak course with dutiful behavior to parents of the students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs; Islamic junior high school) Miftahunnajah. The research method used here is The Quantitative Method. Data collection techniques in this research are questionnaire/scale and documentation. The result of this study show there is a correlation between participation in Aqidah Akhlak course and dutiful behavior to parents. Based on the calculation, the highest mean value is the dutiful behavior to parents.
