Abstract

This study aims to find out the impacts of the economic empowerment program of Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta on the improvement of micro enterprises of the poor people. The theory applied is zakat and several previous studies show that the beneficiaries of zakat are able to develop their micro enterprises. The difference of this study with the previous ones is from the research subject. The research subject in this study was the beneficiaries of economic empowerment program of Dompet Dhuafa Yogyakarta while the previous research subjects were Amil Zakat Institution (Lembaga Amil Zakat), Amil Zakat National Agency (BAZNAS), Baitul Maal wal Tamwil (BMT), or House of Zakat Yogyakarta. In addition, the number of beneficiaries was larger that is 14 people compared to the previous studies. The main novelty of this study is in the use of grant-making program that is the new program of Dompet Dhuafa as one of the observation object. The research results indicate that the beneficiaries of economic empowerment program of Dompet Dhuafa are able to develop their micro enterprises and improve their business stability.
