Abstract

The online news portal is proof of the presence of new media. With the online news portal, information can be constructed by journalists so the public can easily accept the information. One of them is information about the issue of Ustaz Abdul Somads rejection at the Masjid of UGM which was constructed by several online news portals namely Tribunnews.com, Detik.com, Republika.co.id, and Tirto.id so that the construction results created by each journalist of media can be an information for the audience. This study aims to determine the media framing of Tribunnews.com, Detik.com, Republika.co.id, and Tirto.id in constructing the news regarding the rejection of Ustaz Abdul Somad at the Masjid of UGM. This research uses a qualitative approach using the theory of framing analysis from Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. In addition, data collection techniques in this study are documentation and observation techniques. This research concludes that the construction used by each of the online news portals is different that (1) Tribunnews.com in constructing the news puts forward the efficiency aspects without prioritizing the actual and factual aspects (2) Detik.com in constructing the news prioritizes those who support Ustaz Abdul Somads rejection (3) Republika.co.id in constructing the news put forward the counterparties to the refusal of Ustaz Abdul Somad (4) Tirto.id in constructing the news emphasizing the facts that exist along with the course of the event.
