Abstract

The Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in March 2011 which caused damage to nuclear reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has affected Japans economic growth and competitiveness in various industries including the tourism industry. Japan identifies countries that have great potential for their tourism industry to contribute to restoring their economy, one of which is Australia. In this research, researcher will discuss strategies carried out by the Japanese government in increasing the interest of Australian tourists to visit Japan. This research used descriptive qualitative method xii to explain how to Japanese government increasing the visit of Australian tourist. The techniques for collecting the data in this research is library research through books, articles, journals, print media, electronic media, and websites. The results of this research indicate that Japan uses its cultural products to attract Australian tourists. The strategy carried out by Japan will also continue to be developed depends on a growing trend in Australia
