Abstract

This research focuses on multicultural acculturation to the theme of multiculturalism in Indonesian movie and the researcher uses Lamaran movie as the research material. Multicultural relations in the Lamaran movie is narrated with the medium of marriage as the process in the forming of the relation. In the Lamaran movie, the scene which is played by the characters are intertwined, although the most outstanding figures are Batak and Sundanese culture. There are many inhibiting and supporting factors that accompany the process of the relationship. The social phenomenas in Lamaran movie are often encountered in Indonesian movies with Multiculturalism theme. The effort which is made to create the process of acculturation is shown by various ways so that the balance could be achieved. The research method used in this descriptive qualitative research is narrative analysis. The datas are obtained from the literature review and the documentation of the recording from Lamaran movie itself. The Narrative analysis is used to know the phenomenon that emerged and the dominant characters in the Lamaran movie. In the research, the researcher found that the acculturation which is narrated in the Lamaran movie is not immediately formed. In the process often encountered the dominance over other cultures. As well as the social phenomenon that often appear in the display of Indonesian movie with multiculturalism theme. In the end every characters of the Lamaran movie show efforts in order that the multicultural relations could be well established and accept the differences.
