Abstract

The presence of illegal immigrants in Malaysia has been a long-standing issue and is seen as a threat to Malaysias national security due to their large numbers and the negative impact of their large numbers, although on the other side, illegal immigrants are beneficial in Malaysias economy and development. Determination of the paradigm in the regulation of handling illegal mmigration in Malaysia is then needed to determine the direction of the policy of handling illegal mmigration in Malaysia. The research method used is quantitative content analysis on seven main regulations in the policy of handling illegal mmigration in Malaysia. The three major paradigms used are realism, liberalism and constructivism. The results of this study show realism as a paradigm in the construction of policies for handling illegal mmigration in Malaysia.
