Abstract

This research trying to analyze opinions on coverage weakening rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar in Kompas.com during September 2015. The purpose of this study to determine the student of Komakom Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UMY opinion on coverage weakening rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar that presented by Kompas.com. The theoretical framework in this study observes at the opinion as an active response on a stimulus, in this case in response to a proclamation. The method used in this study is the approach, and the means to be used in obtaining the data to be revealed in this study is to use a descriptive approach. This study shows that students of Komakom Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UMY have a positive opinions about the coverage that presented Kompas.com about weakening rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar. Based on the interviews with informants, emerging opinion is that the coverage in Kompas.com assessed informative, balanced, not speculative, trustworthy and have an attractive delivering. The news that served to meet the needs of students in terms of information and dissemination. In addition Kompas.com news has become a necessity for students of Komakom Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UMY.
