Abstract

Economic growth can be defined as the increase or improvement in the inflation-adjusted market
value of the goods and services produced by an economy over time. Statisticians conventionally
measure such growth as the percent rate of increase in real gross domestic product, or real GDP. This
study about economic growth aims to analyze the effects of foreign direct investment, trade
openness, inflation, and internet use on the economic growth in all six of BRIICS countries (Brazil,
Russia Federation, India, Indonesia, China, and South Africa) during period 2009 to 2019. The type
of this study is a quantitative research using secondary data that are collected from the Official
World Bank site. The analysis tool that is used in this study is the panel data regression using
Eviews. The results of this research show that variable foreign direct investment has negative and
significant effect on the economic growth, variable trade has positive and insignificant impact,
variable inflation has positive and insignificant impact, and variable internet use per individual has
positive and significant effect on the economic growth in all six BRIICS countries with variable
internet use as the greatest factor.
