Abstract
Background: Health workers, especially doctors, are the first line to treat
patients with COVID-19. Transmission of the virus that has been confirmed
can be transmitted from person to person, leaving health workers faced with a
high risk of exposure to COVID-19 and considerable psychological stress. The
increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia can have a psychological
impact on doctors. Psychological impacts can arise. One of them is fatigue or
burnout. Burnout is a state of stress that occurs continuously and then causes
physical and emotional fatigue that can eventually lead to maladaptive
behaviors, such as relationships with other individuals and loss of motivation,
as well as a decrease in achievement resulting from feelings of worthlessness.
Objective: This study aims to study existing literature so that it can determine
the level of burnout that occurs in doctors in the era of the COVID-19
pandemic.
Methods: This research is a literature study. Journals are searched through 3
databases, namely PubMed Journal, ProQuest and EBSCO, then conducted a
critical assessment of the article using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Once
the article is synthesized, an in-depth analysis of the article is performed.
Results: 1425 journals were obtained from 3 databases, 276 journals from
Pubmed, 1124 journals from ProQuest and 25 journals from EBSCO.
Furthermore, inclusion and exclusion criteria are used. After a critical
assessment, 28 journals will be studied.
Conclusion: Based on the literature study that has been done, the conclusion
is that the pandemic covid-19 was found to be the cause of burnout events in
doctors. There are several factors that affect burnout events, namely doctor
characteristics, medical history, working in a heavy work environment,
employment status and other factors. Cooperation from the community,
hospitals and the government is urgently needed to prevent and reduce
burnout events.
