Abstract
Umbulharjo village is one of the villages that most severely affected by the Merapi eruption in 2010, especially Pelemsari and Pangukrejo. This has an impact on the loss of potential soil fertility. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of agricultural land and determine the suitability class of actual and potential agricultural land after the 2010 Merapi eruption for local food crops cassava and corn in Pelemsari and Pangukrejo. This type of research was conducted using a survey method with a descriptive approach. The types of data used in this study are primary and secondary data. The method for analyzing the data in this study is the arithmetic matching method. The results showed that Pangukrejo and Pelemsari hamlets had the characteristics of effective depth, cation exchange capacity (CEC), Moderate saturation pH, low slope and rather fast drainage. The actual land suitability for cassava in Pangukrejo and Pelemsari hamlets is S1(wa, oa, rc, nr). Meanwhile, for corn crops in Pangukrejo Hamlet, namely S1 (tc, wa, oa, rc, nr) and Pelemsari Hamlet, S2 (tc, wa, oa, rc, nr, eh). The potential land suitability for maize and cassava in the two hamlets is S1.
