Abstract

This study aims to describe the types and uses of respectful language or keigo,
so that it can be useful for students and teachers. This research is a qualitative
descriptive study, data collection is done by listening and taking notes from data
sources taken from the anime Gin No Saji. Then categorized into types of keigo and
parameters that affect the use of keigo. Based on the obtained research data, it can
be seen that the types of keigo from the obtained data are sonkeigo contained on 21
data, kenjougo contained on 9 data, and teineigo contained on 47 data. Then it’s
known, that the use of keigo is influenced by several parameters, namely, age on 29
data, familiarity level on 2 data, private or public on 5 data, status and social status
on 20 data, and without parameters is on 3 data. So it can be seen that the most
widely used keigo is teineigo and the parameters that most influences the use of
keigo is the age parameter.
