Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of
coastal area management in Gunung Kidul Regency; analyze the
concept of developing community-based coastal area
management and analyze the obstacles to implementing
community-based coastal area management at Ngrenehan Beach,
Kanigoro Village, Gunung Kidul Regency. This study uses a
social-legal research method with a statutory approach and a
concept approach. This research utilizes primary data and
secondary data. The results of this study are that the management
of coastal areas and small islands precisely in Gunung Kidul
Regency is in accordance with the National Law, to include
participation in the form of community participation in the
management of coastal areas and small islands; Kanigoro Village
has carried out the functions/activities of natural resource
management from the planning, organizing, actualting, and
controlling stages. The Kanigoro village community is proven in
this case to have been able to carry out participatory and
independent natural resource management; Implementation of the
concept and model of CBNRM Kanigoro Village has not
included the community in several stages of the management of
the Ngrenehan coastal area, especially at the planning stage. The
suggestion offered is that the Kanigoro Village Government
should plan a coastal area management program through
deliberation with community leaders to create consensus, then
coordinate with various stakeholders to immediately implement
socialization and education to the Kanigoro Village community.
