Abstract

Background: The increasing prevalence of Chronic Kidney disease (CKD) requires major
changes to diet and lifestyle. Low levels of adherence to diet, fluids and nutrition contribute to
increased mortality and morbidity. The involvement of health workers especially nurses in
providing knowledge of nutrition and dietary intake in the form of health education affects
individual healthy behavior.
Objective: This review aimed to synthesize the existing literature related to the development of
educational media on nutrition and outcomes of patients with renal failure.
Methods: This research is a literature review approach where the research sources are taken
from two databases, namely Pubmed and Google Scholar. The keywords used were "Nutrition
Education OR fluid education AND Renal Failure OR Chronic Kidney Disease; Chronic Kidney
Failure AND Nutrition Education and Results AND Educational Media". The initial search
results based on inclusion and exclusion criteria were found 2.203 articles (Pubmed2.005
articles, google scholar 198articles).
Results: The final results of the search for articles after being reviewed, found seven articles
that met the inclusion criteria. The results of the review show that various media are used for
health education related to nutrition and fluids in patients with CRF.
Conclusion: The media used are simple, for example, booklets, to complex applications. health
education about diet in the intervention group with various media showed significant results
