Abstract

Research on two-phase flow in mini-pipes is rarely carried out when compared to two-phase flow in conventional pipes, where surface tension has a very dominant role in the flow, therefore it is necessary to do research on twophase flow in mini-pipes. -pipe. small pipe. small pipe. small pipe. Two-phase flow research has many parameters that can be studied. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of the flow pattern, flow pattern map, cavity fraction, and pressure gradient. The research was conducted using a test section in the form of a glass pipe with a diameter of 1.6 mm at the position of the pipe 20° against the horizontal. The working fluid is a gas fluid in the form of dry air and liquid fluid in the form of a mixture of 47% aquedade, glycerin 50%, and butanol 3%. The superficial speed is the liquid superficial speed (JL) of 0.033–4,935 m/s and the gas superficial speed (JG) of 0–66.6 m/s. Flow pattern data is obtained directly through video footage taken using the camera with visualization methods. Hollow fraction data is obtained from image processing of video flow patterns using MATLAB R2014a software. Pressure gradient data is obtained from the MPX system reading of pressure drop processed using microsoft excel software. The results of the study are flow patterns. Flow patterns obtained are bubble, slug, churn, slug-annular, plug and annular. Variables that affect the formation of flow patterns are viscosity, surface tension, and superficial speed.
