Abstract

This research aimed to know about (1) The speech text writing habit of the students of Daar El Qolam Islamic Boarding School 2, (2) The writing skill of the students of Daar El Qolam Islamic Boarding School 2, and (3) The correlation between speech text writing habit and writing skill of the students of Daar El Qolam Islamic Boarding School 2. This research used quantitative research approach with the correlational research design. The data were gathered from the 114 students of Daar El Qolam Islamic Boarding School 2 by distributing the created questionnaire about speech text writing habit and asking the students speech text writing score. The instrument was valid and reliable with the reliability score.723 from 25 statements. The data analysis from SPSS 21 revealed that the speech text writing habit of the students of Daar El Qolam Islamic Boarding School 2 was good (3.47). It means that the students have a good speech text writing habit. This research also revealed that the students writing score was7.18 which means fair. It means that the students writing skill was still not good enough. Furthermore, this research found that there is positive correlation between speech text writing habit and writing skill of the students of Daar El Qolam Islamic Boarding School 2 with the (ρ value 0.00) and the (r value 0.486) in moderate correlation. Thus, this research accepted H1, and it means that the better the students speech text writing habit, the better the students writing skill will be.
