Abstract

Background : Nutritional Fulfillment especially infants aged 0-6 months of exclusive breastfeeding is very essential to be done by the parents . Studies from several developing countries reveals a major cause of malnutrition and growth retardation of children is due to the low exclusive breastfeeding and the prevalence of complementary feeding practices ( MP - ASI ) .
Objective : To identify the relationship of knowledge and attitudes on exclusive breastfeeding with maternal behavior in the provision of complementary feeding in infants aged 0-6 months in Posyandu Eforbia Banyuraden village Gamping , Sleman.
Methods: This study used a descriptive research method correlation with cross - sectional approach , the sample in this study using incidental sampling as many as 70 people . Data were analyzed by univariate, bivariate and multivariate analyzes , using Pearson correlation analysis .
Results : Knowledge of mothers were 36 persons ( 51.4 % ) with moderate category , maternal attitudes on exclusive breastfeeding 34 individuals ( 48.6 % ) with less categories and maternal behavior in the provision of complementary feeding as many as 28 people ( 40.0 % ) in both categories . There is a relationship between knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding by the mother behavior giving complementary feeding ( MP - ASI ) At baby age 0-6 months in Posyandu Eforbia Banyuraden village Gamping, Sleman . There is a relationship between attitudes on exclusive breastfeeding by the mother behavior feeding companion ASI ( MP - ASI ) at baby Age 0-6 months in Posyandu Eforbia Banyuraden village Gamping, Sleman .
Suggestion: Based of the result of the research, the suggestion proposed that elucidation and information giving need to be done to mother which have 0-6 month baby about the advantages Exclusive Breast milk, practice given Exclusive Breast milk, position of practice given Exclusive Breast milk, and the disadvantages early given MP-ASI.
