Abstract

Self care on diabetes is individual’s management controling diabetes included drug therapy and prevention of complications. Measurement for activity of self care on diabetes were performed according to dietary intake, physical exercises, blood glucose monitoring, and drug therapy. This research was performed of intervention and control group pre test—post test experimental design to determine the supportif educative system given to patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus on self-care. This research was take place in the area Mergangsan district, that is urban Wirogunan and Brontokusuman village. The total sample were 82 respondents (41 for intervention group and 41 for control group).Wilcoxon test resulth showed the p=0,002, which means there is a significant difference in effect between the intervention groups pre and post supportif educative system. The control group was not significant (p = 1.000), there was no difference between pre and post supportif educative system. Mann Whitney test resulth showed the p = 0,020, which means there is a significant difference in effect between the intervention and control groups pre and post supportif educative system. Conclusion: supportif educative system can increasing independence client with diabetes mellitus type 2
