Abstract

School age is the most critical period which will mostly affect VRPHRQH¶V VHOI FRQFHSW� 6HOI FRQFHSW FRQVLVWV of several components, VXFKDV�VHOILPDJH�VHOILGHDO�SULGH�UROH�DQGVHOILGHQWLW\�$FKLOG¶VVHOI concept can be shaped by his family especially his parents. A family that can give good attention to its children can also shape good self concept of its children. This research aims to find out the role of family in the self conceptof children in school age at grade 1-3 in SDN Grindang Hargomulyo. It was a non-experimental research with cross sectional approach. It took 40 respondents as its total sample. Data collection was conducted by giving questionnaire and data analysis was done by Rank correlation statistic test. The results of the research show that there are corelations between family role and the self concept development of children in school age at garde 1-3 in SDN Grindang Hargomulyo. The results show good role of family in 16 households (40%) and sufficient role of familly in 24 households. Furthermore, level of self concept result in good self concept among 10 children (25%) and sufficient self concept among 30 children (75%). From the result of statistic test, there is significance of 0,01 or p<0,05 and value r = 0,462. Conclusion gained from this research is that there is a relationship between family role and the self concept development of children in school age at grade 1 ± 3 in SDN Grindang Hargomulyo.
