Abstract
Cholera disease is a serious infectious disease. Cholera is a serious infectious disease caused by the bacteria Vibrio cholerae, which affects the intestinal system of the body. An infected person experiences severe vomiting, explosive diarrhea and severe dehydration. Without immediate medical treatment, cholera may result in death within four to twelve hours after symptoms begin. Cholera is very contagious. It is spread by the unintentional consumption of infected feces that contaminate food and water. It can also be spread through human to human contact. On October 2010, Haiti began to be infected with cholera outbreaks, previously on January 12, 2010 an earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale shook Haiti. The civilians who survived live in emergency tends , this situation is exacerbated by poor sanitation and slum environment, so the disease is also easily attacked population of Haiti . The purpose of this research is to describe the role of World Health Organizations (WHO) to resolve the epidemic cholera in Haiti. How to make a decision in WHO, until the actions of WHO to prevent and treat the victims who infected cholera. This research use descriptive qualitative method. Collecting data use secondary data through library research by using books, journal, mass media, and although websites which is relevant with the problem. There is including the cause of cholera that began from the earthquake that happened in January 2010 until poor sanitation in Haiti. The disease has dropped a lot of casualties. So WHO as an international organization that specializes in health care seeks to prevent the spread of the disease, WHO does not work alone, but working with other international organizations and local governments. With the establishment of cooperation and coordination, , for the moment any change is better. Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti has facilities for the treatment of cholera patients, who showed signs of decline. At the end of 2010 and still have 110 patients in a day, then in early 2011 became only 45-50 patients in a day. Usually the patients can recover within three to four days.
