PENGARUH PERAN ORANG TUA TERHADAP STATUS KARIES MOLAR PERTAMA RAHANG BAWAH PERMANEN PADA ANAK RETARDASI MENTAL

Background : Related to World Health Organization, mentally retarded is an insufficient mentally skill. The role of parent is very important to maintain the oral health at the mentally retarded children. Mandibular first molar is a tooth with has the highest prevalence of caries because it has the earliest eruption compare with another teeth, It also has a pit and fissure which may make it as a retention of food. Aim : To know the influence of parent towards caries status in mandibular first molar at mentally retarded children in SLB Dharma Rena Ring Putra II Yogyakarta. Method : Method of study is a quantitative study with cross sectional approach. Sample of study are 41 parents of mentally retarded children in SLB Dharma Rena Ring Putra II Yogyakarta. Questionnaire and diagnostic tools were used to discover the caries status at the mandibular first molar. Statistic test were using pearson correlation. Result : Indicate that there is an influence of parents role towards caries status first molar of mandibula in mentally retarded children at the SLB Dharma Rena Ring Putra II Yogyakarta. It is statically significant which the p value 0.009(p<0.05). Conclusion : Conclusion of study indicate that there is an influence of parent role towards status caries first molar of mandibula in mentally retarded children SLB Dharma Rena Ring Putra II Yogyakarta.
