Abstract

The research aimed at constructing gender education values in Surah AnNisa verse number 34 according to Sayyid Qutb’s perspective. Other than that, the
research also aimed at analyzing gender equity in gender education values
according to Sayyid Qutb.
The type of the research is a library research using qualitative approach.
The material object is a book text of Fī Ẓilāl al-Qur’ān by Sayyid Quṭb. The
formal object is Sayyid Quṭb’s thoughts about gender education consisted in the
magnum opus. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive-analysis.
The research results indicate six gender education values in akidah
(religious belief/faith), syariah (muamalah) (law and human relations), dan akhlak
(Islamic morals). In akidah it is namely belief in equity between man and woman.
In syariah (muamalah) it covers that: (a) man is the leader in the family or
household organization, (b) Husband provides living to the family members; (c)
wife takes care of children; (d) and husband advise, sleeps separately from wife
and hit (gently) wife who is nusyuz. Meanwhile, in akhlak, wife must obey
husband. All six gender education values are in accordance with proportional
gender equity. It means that equality does not mean similarity but it must be in
accordance with the aspects affecting it. However, on the other side there is an
assumptive perspective of Sayyid Qutb that leads to negative stereotypical
towards female single parent.
