Abstract

This undergraduate thesis tried to discuss about the barriers to women’s political representation in India and Indonesia. From the past until now the issue of women’s political representation in parliament becomes important because of recent issue about discrimination against women’s position in society. India and Indonesia as developing countries, also as two of biggest number of population in the world is still facing some problems towards democratization. And one of those problems is to make equal rights between man and women. How women’s enter Parliament and women’s position in Parliament is must to discussed, how the regulation to fulfill 30% quota for women’s in Parliament. That becomes interesting how two different countries implement a regulation to force women to give impact in politics and to a country. Besides, this undergraduate thesis is also written in order to fulfill one of the requirements of bachelor degree program in International Relations Department, Social Political Science Faculty of University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta.
