Abstract

Until today there are no standard therapy for scar caused by secondary infection of scabies, so people used alternative therapy such as Olive Oil which contains of oleic and linoleic acid, and Green tea Oil with epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), both are expected to reduce scar observed by changes of scar’s colour and texture. This research aimed to knows the efficacy of Olive Oil and Green tea Oil as scar alternative therapy. This Randomized Controlled Trial and single-blind method research has 12 subjects who are residents of UNIRES UMY with infection scar and divided into 3 groups, Olive oil, Green tea oil, and non-intervention. Scar’s colour and texture were measured using skin analyzer before and after intervention for 2 months. The results showed that the colour mean difference is significant before and after Green tea therapy with p=0.013, but it has no significant difference for Zaitun (p=0,443) and control (p=0,134), with colour ratio of Zaitun (11:10), Green tea (10:1),and control (9:10). The texture mean difference is no significant before and after therapy of Green tea (p=0,166), Zaitun (p=0,064) and control (p=0,358), with texture ratio of Zaitun (12:10), Green tea (13:10), and control (7:10). Green tea Oil has the biggest value in scar’s colour and texture improvement.
