Abstract
End-stage renal disease is a condition where the renal function decreased irreversibly, progressively for each year, allowing a decreased in one’s Quality of Life (QoL). One therapy that may replace this malfunction renal is hemodialysis. This study objective is to find out the correlation between hemodialysis adequacy and the quality of life in patient diagnosed with end stage renal disease.
This is an analytic observational study; the data were taken with cross sectional method. This research was held at Unit Hemodialisis of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital from January – April 2014. Using purposive sampling, this study subject consists of 22 patients. Data analyzed with Pearson correlation test.
Bivariate correlation analysis shows there is no significant correlation between hemodialysis adequacy with both end-stage renal disease patient’s physical (p = 0,117; r = 0,586) and mental (p = -0,164; r = 0,443) aspect in PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital. Based on these calculation, we can conclude there’s no significant correlation between hemodialysis adequacy and quality of life of end-stage renal disease patient in PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital
