Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which is the number one cause of death in the group of infectious diseases. One of the important laboratory test to detect the presence of infection in the body is the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). Effects of propolis is anti-inflammatory, immune stimulant, and bacteriostatic substances bakteriosida. The purpose of this study is Knowing the effect of propolis as a supplement in the treatment of tuberculosis of the erythrocyte ese dimentation rate(ESR). This study is a pre-experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design. Subjects were 15 patients with new pulmonary tuberculosis in Yogyakarta BP4. Propolis is supplied with OAT for 2 months following diagnosis. LEDs were measured before and after administration of propolis. LED measurement results obtained before treatment LEDs mean = 60.13 min to 30 ml / hour, 60 minutes LED = 88.33 ml / hour. After administration of propolis for 2 months mean LED minutes to 30 = 42.00 ml / hour and 60 minutes LED = 66.73 ml / hour. LED minutes to 30 before and after treatment were significant differences Z = 0.01 p <0.05, mean reduction in LED = 18.13 ml / hour. LED minutes to 60 before and after treatment were significant differences t = 0.00 p <0.05. The mean decrease in LED 21.6 ml / h. From the research it can be concluded that after the administration of propolis and OAT LEDs significant decline
