Abstract

In modern times like today all human work cannot be separated from
the assistance of supporting tools to facilitate work. With the assistance tools, work
productivity will increase and the quality will be better. In this case, the presence
of assistive devices in the form of machines can have positive and negative impacts,
but if viewed from a negative point of view, assistive devices in the form of machines
used by workers at any time can pose a risk to workers such as being hit by a tool
that can cause serious injuries and even death. It is inseparable from the level of
work accidents in Indonesia which is still very large, from several factors that cause
work accidents in Indonesia, most of the workers' lack of awareness in using PPE
(Personal Protective Equipment). By using PPE on a project it can reduce the
potential for work accidents. In this study, the authors examined the potential risk
of work accidents that occurred in the 1.3 kilometer long underpass construction
project in Yogyakarta. The case study is the New Yogyakarta Airport Underpass.
In this study the data were obtained from a questionnaire filled in by 5 people who
worked on the New Yogyakarta International Airport Underpass construction
project. The New Yogyakarta International Airport Underpass construction project
has 12 activities out of 5 stages of work with 45 events. From the total of all
activities, work stages, and events, the project received an average hazard risk
scale of 9.4 which was categorized into “Medium Risk” with the largest risk scale
of 17 in structural work. In addition, the smallest risk scale is found in finishing
work with a value of 6
