Abstract
According to the results of the Global Burden of Disease in 2010, Chronic
Renal Failure (CRF) was the 27th leading cause of death in the world in 1990 and
increased to number 18 in 2010. Based on this number, only a portion of people
with kidney failure in the world get treatments to include dialysis or transplantation.
However only about 10% get it treated (Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation,
2010). Patients with kidney failure have comorbidities and complications, in which
it is possible to receive multiple drugs (polypharmacy). Polypharmacy may increase
the incidence of Drug Related Problems (DRPs). Therefore, it is necessary to
research to determine the type and prevalence of DRPs in CRF patients of Inpatient
Installation of Brebes Regional of al Hospital from January 2018 to December
2018.
This study followed a non-experimental design with a descriptive-analytic
design. Retrospective data was collected from 100 medical records on CRF patients
from January 2018 to December 2018. The data obtained were analyzed using
literature studies, namely: KDIGO 2012, KDOQI 2002, Drug Interaction Fact 7th
edition 2010, Stockley's Drug Interactions 8
th edition 2008, Handbook of
Pathophysiology, and Pharmacotherapy Textbook of Cardiovascular and Renal.
The results showed that out of 100 samples, there were 317 incidents of
DRPs. Based on these data, 10 (3,16%) incidents were non-indicated drugs, eight
(2,52%) incidents of drugs without indication, seven (2,21%) incidents of wrong
drugs, 17 (5,36%) incidents where the dose is too high, 275 (86,75%) occurrences
of drug interactions, and no incidence of too low a dose.
